Prayers for my dad

My family and I have been sending out requests to our churches, friends and extended family asking people to pray.  When my dad gets discouraged and scared, he tells me he thinks of those people praying for him and it brings him comfort.  Because of this, I am setting up this website so my dad can see your prayers for himself on those days when he needs it most.   So, thank you for visiting.  He has a very long road ahead of him and I pray that you will come back often and let my dad know that you are indeed praying for him.   The five minutes you take to do so means the world to him (and to those of us that love him so very much).  Thank you for being a part of this.

  1. You are in my family's hearts and prayers, and we will put in a prayer request at our church for you! Jeff Plost

  2. Praying for your strength, courage and full recovery Bill! Will continue to keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers in the months ahead. God bless.

  3. Praying for you big Brother. My Church Family also is praying. We serve a mighty big God. Please keep looking to HIM for your strength. HE loves you more than even your family. I know that is hard to imagine!! your little sister, Jennie

  4. Praying for you Uncle Bill!! May God give you strength and hope as you begin your journey to recovery. Lots of love and hugs, Nicki

  5. Mr. Smith,
    I'm a friend and co-worker of Stacy's here in Houston. I want you know that you are in our thoughts and prayers here in Houston. Here's a link to a song that I find to be very uplifting whenever you are feeling a bit down and need to remember that your friends, family, church are there for you. I play often.
    Sending healing thoughts your way,
    Debbie B.

  7. Mr. Smith, while I am saddened by the news, I am a strong believer that good things happen to good people (as evidenced by my mothers fight and victories vs. colon cancer). This is a battle that you will win. Please know that you are loved by all and will have prayers coming your way from St. Louis.

    “A man can be as great as he wants to be. If you believe in yourself and have the courage, the determination, the dedication, the competitive drive and if you are willing to sacrifice the little things in life and pay the price for the things that are worthwhile, it can be done.” -Vince Lombardi

    I'm one of the many friends that Maggie has here in San Diego and want nothing more than to give you as much strength as possible to get through this. Feel the support and prayer from all of us. You can do it. We're here for you.

    With daily thoughts and care, Carol

  12. Dear Bill, I hope when you close your eyes at night you are filled with the peace of knowing how loved you are - not only by your family but by all those whose lives you have touched. Please do not be afraid; let that love strengthen you and heal you.
    I believe you will be victorious in your fight against cancer!! The decision to win is more than 1/2 the battle and you have already accomplished that. With your positive mindset and the love of those around you, you will succeed!
    With love & admiration, Lucinda (a friend of Maggie's from high school )

  13. Dear Bill...Our prayers are with you at this time of trials. Hang in there Buddy. I know how tough it can get, but our prayers will get you through. We just love your adorable daughter Maggie. I met her through my FP4H program. We are all here for you.

  14. Bill: We are praying for you and your family. Stay positive and focused and know that you are loved.
    Romans 5: 3-5
    Not only so, but we[a] also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

    I'm a friend of Maggie's and she is one of the most positive and loving people I've every met. She must have learned that from you so keep fighting and keep the faith!!

  15. I am agreeing in prayer for Bills complete recovery. Our God is Healer and what the Doctors cannot do He can. While Bill is having to go through these trying times He has a great opportunity to be a witness for our great and powerful God. Bill and Family Look for those oppertunitues and it will make the time go by faster and also bring peace and encouragement to all.

  16. Bill, We are praying for you! We pray for God's grace and peace to surround you and uphold you!

  17. Maggie's Dad,
    God is still in the miracle business.
    I pray for your strengh and confidence as He guides you through this w/ the love and support of your loving family and friends.

  18. Hi Buck, Buck's dad, family and friends,

    Rachael just let me know that you all could use our prayers, strength and friendship as you all move in a new direction. We know you will watch "your family" grow here, exponentially as we all band together to give you "group hugs", strength when you feel weak, levity when you are down and love throughout each day. You are in our prayers and are also in our thoughts each day. We'll be checking in on you, Bill...

    Susie (Rachael Holstein's mom)

  19. You can do this Bill. I've seen you beat life's challenges time and time again. I pray for you every day and am convinced some good will come of this. Be strong, and if there are days it's hard to be, reach out to those who dearly love you. We're here to help.

  20. Mr. Smith, My husband works with Will and passed this along to me. I am true believer in the power of prayer, so please know that you will be in our family's prayers. A friend who is cancer surviver shared this prayer of St. Francis de Sales with me, that she prayed all through her illness and I pray it daily now myself. "Have no fear for what tomorrow may bring. The same loving God who cares for you today will take care of you tomorrrow and every day. God will either shield you from suffering or give you unfailing strength to bear it. Be at peace then, and put aside all anxious thoughts and imaginations."
    God Bless.

  21. May God bless you with the strength & courage you need each day. May you be surrounded by peace and love.

  22. Bill -

    I am a friend of a friend. I got a note today about this page and the power it provides you, so I wanted to add to that arsenal of good will.

    I have an aunt who has stage four cancer (lung and breast). The docs gave us a grim outlook of how long we’d have her with us. That was six years ago (next month). Today, she is active, happy and living a full life – with her tumors. It took some time but the docs finally found a course of treatment that worked and her masses haven’t grown in some time.

    I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. All I ask in return is that you don’t give up. Keep fighting and know that you have people on your side, you have a full and beautiful life and you are loved.

    Vikki Meldrum

  23. Bill -

    I believe 100% in the true medicinal effects of positive outlook, spirit and a good support system. From what I've heard of you, you are armed and blessed with each of those things. Do not give up. You have the ability not only to fight, but to win. Our prayers are with you.

    A friend of a friend. And a believer.

  24. Dear Bill,
    I am a friend of your sweet daughter Maggie and have been praying for you ever since she heard the news. My own beloved mother-in-law was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer back in 2001 and I know how hard it can be. I am so glad that you have a fighting chance and are in it for the fight. I will continue to lift you up and pray that you beat the odds and bring glory to God's name. Trust in Him and he will give you the endurance to see this through.
    Your prayer warrior, Sandy

  25. Dear Bill-
    I am praying for you right now... that our heavenly Father will guide your doctors, strengthen your body to fight this cancer, and to fill you will peace beyond understanding. What a special time to come together and to call upon the most powerful name on earth .. the name of our Lord Jesus Christ for your healing. My friend, your daughter Maggie, loves you so very much. She is helping with the best treatment possible. Together, with your family, we will be praying. Much love, Janet Ichinose

  26. Dear Bill,

    Our thoughts and prayers are with you...and also with your family.
    My mom beat lung cancer over 15 years ago and she is doing just fine.
    Love to you and your family.
    Janie & Ed (Maggie's neighbors)

  27. Bill~I told you before, and I'll say it again, I didn't meet you in 1996 to work for you at Fibres. I met you so you can help carry out this mission of ours with RonWear to help thousands who are going through the same as you are. This God-inspired mission was not by accident. Our meeting was not by accident. I've never known anyone with a more positive attitude than you have. You are loved by God and in it He will see you through. I'm here for you and Susan...always. Love you!!!! Deb

  28. Dear Bill, Buck and the rest of your family,

    I wish you all the courage to stand up to this challenge that has been brought to you and the hope to help keep you moving forward in a positive direction. I can tell you are surrounded by plenty of loving family and friends to give you the encouragement you will need along the way. I will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

    I am a dear friend of Maggie's from College. She has kept me posted on your diagnosis and treatment. I am also a physician and work with severely injured soldiers. I want to share with you that I am always totally amazed at my patient's recoveries and positive outcomes! I have seen amazing things and I will keep you in my prayers for you to stay strong, resilient and persistent with your journey ahead! Faith and a positive attitude are half the battle....we are all here to support you and help keep up your strength and faith.

  32. Bill,
    I am an online friend of Stacy's and we have "known" each other for over 4 years now. She was with me as I learned my father's cancer had returned, and as he faced the battle that you are preparing to face. The battle for your life. She prayed for me and offered me support during that very difficult time and it meant the world to me.

    I want you to know that I will be praying for you and for Stacy, as I know how difficult your journey will be, as well as how hard her's will be as someone who loves you. I will be praying for you to have strength as you endure the chemotherapy and radiation that will be so horrific, but could also save your life. Know that there are many women out there who are thinking of you now and who will be thinking of you every day as you battle this disease.
    With much hope for you,

  33. Mr Smith,

    I am a friend of Buck's and Maggie's. Being an Irish Catholic, we believe that prayer has more power than anyone will ever be able to understand, so I send you this Irish prayer to keep you strong.

    An Irish prayer for healing

    May the blessing of light be upon you,
    Light on the outside, Light on the inside.
    With God's sunlight shining on you,
    May your heart glow with warmth,
    Like a turf fire that welcomes friends and strangers alike.
    May the light of the Lord shine from your eyes,
    Like a candle in the window,
    Welcoming the weary traveler.

    May the blessing of God's soft rain be on you,
    Falling gently on your head, refreshing your soul
    With the sweetness of Little flowers newly blooming.
    May the strength of the winds of Heaven bless you,
    Carrying the rain to wash your spirit clean
    Sparkling after in the sunlight.
    May the blessing of God's earth be on you.

    May you understand the strength and power of God.
    In a thunderstorm in Winter, And the quiet beauty of creation,
    In the calm of a Summer sunset, And may you come to realize,
    that, insignificant as you may seem in this great Universe,
    You are an important part of God's plan,
    and a important part of your family and friends lives,
    We are your clan,
    May "HE" watch over you and keep you safe from harm.
    May "HE" heal your injuries and bring peace to those that care for you and love you.

    In Jesus name a irish man does pray.

  34. Hi Bill,

    I am a friend of Stacy's - as our little ones (Will and my daughter, Kate) are both born in October 2007. Stacy is a shining light to others, and I imagine you are the very same sort of shining light as well. I am praying for you - sending strength and endurance each and every day as you battle this disease. I'm sending love and best wishes to your family and physicians and friends as well. If it takes an army... don't you worry - you've got one chanting your name out here! We may have never met in real life, but you're in my thoughts and prayers - stay strong, positive, and believe.

    My mother was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer and is fighting (as she says) "like a mean, old bird" - her attitude is fantastic, and I thank God for that strong will that is inside of her. I hope you'll adopt her mantra too... maybe you're not really feeling like a mean, old bird, but I hope you might become a fighter of whatever shape/size you want to be - and beat this thing!

    Sending my best along to you. Take care.

  48. Dear Maggie's Dad: I met Maggie about 8 years ago when I help coordinate her wedding at our church, San Clemente Pres. I might have met you at that time too, but I can't recall. Anyway, Meggie was my all-time favorite bride because of her grace, beauty and attitude on her wedding day. So anyone that raised that wonderful daughter is definitely on my prayer list. 70. Sent by my dear friend Monica, who does not have access to blog sites from her work place.

    Mr. Bill,

    I hope this brief but sincere message gets in your hands and you are accompanied by your family and loved ones in this time.

    In the word of God we read over and over again how many people ran to Jesus to seek a miracle healing. People who were healed and even raised from their sleep at the voice of the Lord saying “Arise”. Many of them truly believed He was the son of God, the messiah and others were just contempt with knowing they were healed but did not return to thank him. We also read in Mathew 9 that a paralytic approached Jesus to be healed and the first words that came form Jesus were not “be healed” but “your sins are forgiven” then Jesus told him to raise his bed and walk.

    I don’t know how much physical pain you may be going through, how many moments of loneliness you may have experienced through this hardship and how many more moments of companion, strength, prayer and have surrounded you. One thing I know is for sure: The Lord is our rest.

    I pray that as you body feels less pain and perhaps is restored by God’s mighty hand, you can already be assured of the AMAZING Love he has for us through our Jesus Savior, our King who carried our sickness and conquered death. I hope you rejoice in the salvation that comes from him alone where he chose to put away briefly his crown of gold and the most precious gems in order to put on a crown of thorns for all that have put their trust in Him. This I know: Living on this earth with the assurance that the Lord is our Savior, our Redeemer, there is always hope. If we depart from this earth but depart to be with HIM our Hope continues is his everlasting glory.

    I pray the sincere prayers of those around you and those that you don’t know give you comfort and your heart rest in Jesus Christ, our Lord.

    Ephesians 4:32.

    I am a friend of Maggie from church and have been praying for God's strength to see you through this trial in your life. I'm so glad that He is surrounding you with the love and support of your beloved family and friends.

  72. From Psalms 38

    A psalm of David. A petition.
    1 LORD, do not rebuke me in your anger
    or discipline me in your wrath.
    2 Your arrows have pierced me,
    and your hand has come down on me.
    3 Because of your wrath there is no health in my body;
    there is no soundness in my bones because of my sin.
    4 My guilt has overwhelmed me
    like a burden too heavy to bear.

    5 My wounds fester and are loathsome
    because of my sinful folly.
    6 I am bowed down and brought very low;
    all day long I go about mourning.
    7 My back is filled with searing pain;
    there is no health in my body.
    8 I am feeble and utterly crushed;
    I groan in anguish of heart.

    9 All my longings lie open before you, Lord;
    my sighing is not hidden from you.
    10 My heart pounds, my strength fails me;
    even the light has gone from my eyes.
    11 My friends and companions avoid me because of my wounds;
    my neighbors stay far away.
    12 Those who want to kill me set their traps,
    those who would harm me talk of my ruin;
    all day long they scheme and lie.

    13 I am like the deaf, who cannot hear,
    like the mute, who cannot speak;
    14 I have become like one who does not hear,
    whose mouth can offer no reply.
    15 LORD, I wait for you;
    you will answer, Lord my God.
    16 For I said, “Do not let them gloat
    or exalt themselves over me when my feet slip.”

    17 For I am about to fall,
    and my pain is ever with me.
    18 I confess my iniquity;
    I am troubled by my sin.
    19 Many have become my enemies without cause[b];
    those who hate me without reason are numerous.
    20 Those who repay my good with evil
    lodge accusations against me,
    though I seek only to do what is good.

    21 LORD, do not forsake me;
    do not be far from me, my God.
    22 Come quickly to help me,
    my Lord and my Savior.

    Still praying! Jenn
