Prayers for my dad

My family and I have been sending out requests to our churches, friends and extended family asking people to pray.  When my dad gets discouraged and scared, he tells me he thinks of those people praying for him and it brings him comfort.  Because of this, I am setting up this website so my dad can see your prayers for himself on those days when he needs it most.   So, thank you for visiting.  He has a very long road ahead of him and I pray that you will come back often and let my dad know that you are indeed praying for him.   The five minutes you take to do so means the world to him (and to those of us that love him so very much).  Thank you for being a part of this.

  7. Mr. Smith, while I am saddened by the news, I am a strong believer that good things happen to good people (as evidenced by my mothers fight and victories vs. colon cancer). This is a battle that you will win. Please know that you are loved by all and will have prayers coming your way from St. Louis.

    Rachael just let me know that you all could use our prayers, strength and friendship as you all move in a new direction. We know you will watch "your family" grow here, exponentially as we all band together to give you "group hugs", strength when you feel weak, levity when you are down and love throughout each day. You are in our prayers and are also in our thoughts each day. We'll be checking in on you, Bill...

  20. Mr. Smith, My husband works with Will and passed this along to me. I am true believer in the power of prayer, so please know that you will be in our family's prayers. A friend who is cancer surviver shared this prayer of St. Francis de Sales with me, that she prayed all through her illness and I pray it daily now myself. "Have no fear for what tomorrow may bring. The same loving God who cares for you today will take care of you tomorrrow and every day. God will either shield you from suffering or give you unfailing strength to bear it. Be at peace then, and put aside all anxious thoughts and imaginations."
    God Bless.

  22. Bill -

    I am a friend of a friend. I got a note today about this page and the power it provides you, so I wanted to add to that arsenal of good will.

    I have an aunt who has stage four cancer (lung and breast). The docs gave us a grim outlook of how long we’d have her with us. That was six years ago (next month). Today, she is active, happy and living a full life – with her tumors. It took some time but the docs finally found a course of treatment that worked and her masses haven’t grown in some time.

    I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. All I ask in return is that you don’t give up. Keep fighting and know that you have people on your side, you have a full and beautiful life and you are loved.

  32. Bill,
    I am an online friend of Stacy's and we have "known" each other for over 4 years now. She was with me as I learned my father's cancer had returned, and as he faced the battle that you are preparing to face. The battle for your life. She prayed for me and offered me support during that very difficult time and it meant the world to me.

    I want you to know that I will be praying for you and for Stacy, as I know how difficult your journey will be, as well as how hard her's will be as someone who loves you. I will be praying for you to have strength as you endure the chemotherapy and radiation that will be so horrific, but could also save your life. Know that there are many women out there who are thinking of you now and who will be thinking of you every day as you battle this disease.
    With much hope for you,

  33. Mr Smith,

    I am a friend of Buck's and Maggie's. Being an Irish Catholic, we believe that prayer has more power than anyone will ever be able to understand, so I send you this Irish prayer to keep you strong.

    An Irish prayer for healing

    May the blessing of light be upon you,
    Light on the outside, Light on the inside.
    With God's sunlight shining on you,
    May your heart glow with warmth,
    Like a turf fire that welcomes friends and strangers alike.
    May the light of the Lord shine from your eyes,
    Like a candle in the window,
    Welcoming the weary traveler.

    May the blessing of God's soft rain be on you,
    Falling gently on your head, refreshing your soul
    With the sweetness of Little flowers newly blooming.
    May the strength of the winds of Heaven bless you,
    Carrying the rain to wash your spirit clean
    Sparkling after in the sunlight.
    May the blessing of God's earth be on you.

    May you understand the strength and power of God.
    In a thunderstorm in Winter, And the quiet beauty of creation,
    In the calm of a Summer sunset, And may you come to realize,
    that, insignificant as you may seem in this great Universe,
    You are an important part of God's plan,
    and a important part of your family and friends lives,
    We are your clan,
    May "HE" watch over you and keep you safe from harm.
    May "HE" heal your injuries and bring peace to those that care for you and love you.

    In Jesus name a irish man does pray.

    Amen.

    -Shannon

  34. Hi Bill,

    I am a friend of Stacy's - as our little ones (Will and my daughter, Kate) are both born in October 2007. Stacy is a shining light to others, and I imagine you are the very same sort of shining light as well. I am praying for you - sending strength and endurance each and every day as you battle this disease. I'm sending love and best wishes to your family and physicians and friends as well. If it takes an army... don't you worry - you've got one chanting your name out here! We may have never met in real life, but you're in my thoughts and prayers - stay strong, positive, and believe.

    My mother was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer and is fighting (as she says) "like a mean, old bird" - her attitude is fantastic, and I thank God for that strong will that is inside of her. I hope you'll adopt her mantra too... maybe you're not really feeling like a mean, old bird, but I hope you might become a fighter of whatever shape/size you want to be - and beat this thing!

    Sending my best along to you. Take care.

  70. Sent by my dear friend Monica, who does not have access to blog sites from her work place.

    Mr. Bill,

    I hope this brief but sincere message gets in your hands and you are accompanied by your family and loved ones in this time.

    In the word of God we read over and over again how many people ran to Jesus to seek a miracle healing. People who were healed and even raised from their sleep at the voice of the Lord saying “Arise”. Many of them truly believed He was the son of God, the messiah and others were just contempt with knowing they were healed but did not return to thank him. We also read in Mathew 9 that a paralytic approached Jesus to be healed and the first words that came form Jesus were not “be healed” but “your sins are forgiven” then Jesus told him to raise his bed and walk.

    I don’t know how much physical pain you may be going through, how many moments of loneliness you may have experienced through this hardship and how many more moments of companion, strength, prayer and have surrounded you. One thing I know is for sure: The Lord is our rest.

    I pray that as you body feels less pain and perhaps is restored by God’s mighty hand, you can already be assured of the AMAZING Love he has for us through our Jesus Savior, our King who carried our sickness and conquered death. I hope you rejoice in the salvation that comes from him alone where he chose to put away briefly his crown of gold and the most precious gems in order to put on a crown of thorns for all that have put their trust in Him. This I know: Living on this earth with the assurance that the Lord is our Savior, our Redeemer, there is always hope. If we depart from this earth but depart to be with HIM our Hope continues is his everlasting glory.

    I pray the sincere prayers of those around you and those that you don’t know give you comfort and your heart rest in Jesus Christ, our Lord.

    Monica.

    Ephesians 4:32.

  72. From Psalms 38

    A psalm of David. A petition.
    1 LORD, do not rebuke me in your anger
    or discipline me in your wrath.
    2 Your arrows have pierced me,
    and your hand has come down on me.
    3 Because of your wrath there is no health in my body;
    there is no soundness in my bones because of my sin.
    4 My guilt has overwhelmed me
    like a burden too heavy to bear.

    5 My wounds fester and are loathsome
    because of my sinful folly.
    6 I am bowed down and brought very low;
    all day long I go about mourning.
    7 My back is filled with searing pain;
    there is no health in my body.
    8 I am feeble and utterly crushed;
    I groan in anguish of heart.

    9 All my longings lie open before you, Lord;
    my sighing is not hidden from you.
    10 My heart pounds, my strength fails me;
    even the light has gone from my eyes.
    11 My friends and companions avoid me because of my wounds;
    my neighbors stay far away.
    12 Those who want to kill me set their traps,
    those who would harm me talk of my ruin;
    all day long they scheme and lie.

    13 I am like the deaf, who cannot hear,
    like the mute, who cannot speak;
    14 I have become like one who does not hear,
    whose mouth can offer no reply.
    15 LORD, I wait for you;
    you will answer, Lord my God.
    16 For I said, “Do not let them gloat
    or exalt themselves over me when my feet slip.”

    17 For I am about to fall,
    and my pain is ever with me.
    18 I confess my iniquity;
    I am troubled by my sin.
    19 Many have become my enemies without cause[b];
    those who hate me without reason are numerous.
    20 Those who repay my good with evil
    lodge accusations against me,
    though I seek only to do what is good.

    21 LORD, do not forsake me;
    do not be far from me, my God.
    22 Come quickly to help me,
    my Lord and my Savior.

    Still praying! Jenn
